Buckhorn Mountain Ranch is located near Colona, Colorado with a generous view of the San Juan Mountains 20 miles south.

Buckhorn Ranch maintains a herd of 300 black commercial cows and uses only high quality Angus Bulls. Our cows migrate up and down the mountain with the seasons and are handled as naturally as possible, never leaving the ranch.

Welcome to Buckhorn Mountain Ranch!   Just north of the San Juan Range of the Rocky Mountains near Colona, Colorado, is some of the most beautiful high desert country on earth.  Ranch headquarters is located at the foot of Storm King Peak, known locally as “Buckhorn.”  The area is rightly named, as this is home to large herds of mule deer and elk, who leave their horns scattered about the ranch when they shed each spring.

Buckhorn Ranch consists of 13,000 acres of leased and deeded property used in cattle and hay production.  The ranch also manages  natural gardens, guided hunting services, as well as a herd of American Quarter Horses used for ranch work.

Our purpose is three-fold:

  1. to beautify, improve and care for the resources God gave us
  2. to explore new ways to operate in a profitable, sustainable manner while helping to feed our community
  3. to build an enjoyable place to live, work and play.
We hope you enjoy your virtual tour.  If that’s not enough, come see us!
